Counseling services
I provide counseling support for individuals living with chronic illness, as well as their family members or caregivers.
My services are especially suited to expats and international clients navigating healthcare in a new country.
I aim to provide a space where you can talk openly about the emotional impact of illness, explore coping strategies, and reconnect with what matters most to you.
Also, caregivers or anyone who is struggling with seeing a loved one affected by a chronic health condition are welcome to come and share their experiences.
Appointment types
For every new client I start with a FREE introductory session of 50 minutes. This provides an opportunity for us to get to know each other and see if counseling is the right fit.
If you decide that you would like to continue then we can meet at a pace that works for you. We can set regular weekly/biweekly/monthly appointments, or you can book a session as needed via the appointments calendar.

What is counseling?
- Living with a chronic health condition can be emotionally overwhelming. Counseling offers a space to talk through the frustrations, fears, and changes that often come with long-term illness.
- Research has shown that counseling can be an effective way to manage the emotional challenges of chronic conditions — including stress, low mood, and anxiety — and to support adjustment over time. It doesn’t change the diagnosis, but it can help you feel more supported, understood, and better able to cope.
- It is important to emphasize that counseling is not the same as psychotherapy. The intention is not to 'treat' and we do not work with a set structure or a course of sessions. Instead, counseling provides a space for you (the client) to share what is on your mind and for me (the counselor) to reflect back at you what I am hearing and observing. I will never provide (health) advice. Instead, we will work together so you can have time to feel heard and feel better in the life that you are living.
- Counselor is not a protected term in Belgium, therefore, there is no government accreditation for counselors. To aid in continuing professional development I am a member of the International Association for Counselling and strive to improve my counseling skills wherever possible. I am a registered psychologist (#892143107) and hold to the deontological code for the practice of psychology in Belgium.
